OEA Government Relations

We cannot be silent. The across-the-board cuts will have a devastating impact on our students and schools. Contact your member of Congress today!
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a “continuing resolution” to fund the government for the rest of fiscal year 2013, but they refused to eliminate the devastating across-the-board cuts that were triggered on March 1. This week, the Senate is expected to vote on its version of the continuing resolution, and they are expected to stop the across-the-board cuts for the rest of the year.
We need to urge Congress to vote to reverse these damaging, across-the-board cuts. Call1.866.293.7278 and tell your member of Congress to vote for kids not cuts.
Ohio schools have already faced deep cuts from Governor Kasich’s last budget and would receive inadequate funds under his proposed budget. Our schools do not need any more funding cuts that will hurt the chances for all Ohio students to succeed. If Congress fails to remove the across-the-board cuts before the end of the month, Ohio schools could see millions more dollars lost in funding. Click here to see how much Ohio’s students and public schools could lose if Congress fails to act.
As educators, we cannot stand for another round of arbitrary cuts that harm schools and shortchange our students.
We need to urge Congress to vote to reverse these damaging, across-the-board cuts. Call 1.866.293.7278 and tell your member of Congress to vote for kids not cuts.
